Attorney Profile    

     Gerardo A. Gonzalez is a dedicated trial attorney who devotes his practice to defending the criminally accused. Raised in San Diego, Gerardo Gonzalez left to obtain his bachelors degree from the University of California Los Angeles in political science. In his final years at UCLA and continuing after gradution, Mr. Gonzalez worked as assistant senior paralegal at the prestigious law firm of Bergman, Wedner, and Dacey and left the firm thereafter to continue his legal career as an attorney. Mr. Gonzalez returned to San Diego and earned his Juris Doctor from the top ranked Law School in the San Diego area: the University of San Diego School  of Law.

     Upon being conferred with a license to practice law in California and in the Courts of the United States, Mr. Gonzalez immediately focused his practice on criminal defense. “It is only in the criminal justice system where people are confronted with the most dangerous of consequence of incarceration. It is in that system that I have always wanted to uphold the constitutional rights which were put in place to protect us from the government when we are faced with such consequences.” His dedication and professionalism has earned Mr. Gonzalez a great reputation with the courts, prosecutors, and fellow defense attorneys. 

     Mr. Gonzalez takes great pride in his extensive experience in both Federal and State criminal justice systems. Few attorneys in San Diego are thoroughly experienced and knowledgeable as to both Federal and State cases. Most attorney’s who primarily practice in state court will take a federal case based on their general knowledge of criminal law and have little or no experience defending or taking a case to trial in federal court. The danger is that the Federal system is distinctly different in substantive law and procedural process and the consequences can be disastrous for the client if mistakes are made. 

     While Gerardo Gonzalez mainly practices in the Superior Courts of San Diego and the Court of the Southern District, his practice often involves representing clients outside of the San Diego area. While it is generally recommended to retain a lawyer who primarily practices in the city where the case is charged, many people stick with the lawyer they trust most. Mr. Gonzalez’ clients have demanded his services and obtained successful results in the counties of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Sacramento, Imperial, Kern; and in Central District court as well.
